Residence

834 MIBU collaborates with established and emerging artists working in contemporary photography. Our goal is to promote the work of publishers and artists while offering a creative space that allows artists time to develop or complete a body of work for exhibition or publication.

In addition to dedicated accommodation, our residency offers access to a range of resources and amenities to support artists in their creative endeavors. We are honored to welcome contemporary photographers from around the world.

Located amidst the historical charm and cultural richness of Kyoto, our bespoke residency provides a serene and contemplative environment conducive to artistic exploration and expression. Surrounded by the timeless beauty of traditional machiya townhouses and the whispers of centuries-old history, residents will find themselves immersed in a world where past and present converge in harmony.

As part of their residency commitment, artists are required to leave behind a tangible expression of their time in Kyoto. This may take the form of a meticulously crafted print created during their stay or the completion of a body of work ready for publication.
